Meet the Curators of Curiosity
Every great collection needs dedicated curators. From welcoming visitors and caring for our exhibits to dreaming up new ideas and keeping Professor Kettlestring's world running smoothly, our Curators of Curiosity are at the heart of everything we do. Get to know the people behind the puzzles, illusions and unforgettable experiences.

LUCY
I'm Lucy. I studied tourism at college and in the past have owned and run a pub, worked in high end retail and in tourism. In my spare time I enjoy live music and comedy gigs with my partner. I love explaining how all the puzzling inventions work and helping our guests get their heads round all the optical illusions.

MATTHEW
Hi, I’m Matthew, York born and bred, with a background in retail management for luxury products. I’ve always enjoyed working in places that offer something fun and a little bit different.
I live just outside the city with my partner and our two young boys, who keep life entertaining (and occasionally chaotic). My favourite part of the Puzzling World of Professor Kettlestring is The Paradoxical Sideways Suite, its perfect for funny, mind-bending photo opportunities. It still makes me laugh seeing the photos people come up with.
Outside of work, I’m usually watching football and rugby, chasing after the kids, or enjoying a pint somewhere local.

ROWENA
Hi, I'm Rowena! With over 30 years of experience in the tourism and hospitality industry, I've done everything from corporate hire to owning and running my own ice cream parlour.
I love meeting new people and creating memorable experiences wherever I go.
When I'm not working, you'll usually find me spending quality time with my family and my dog, Sandy.
My favourite illusion is the Enigma Chair – it's a fantastic blend of mystery and fun, and it always creates the perfect photo opportunity!

FIN
My name is Fin and I’m a theatre student at the University of York.
My biggest passion is directing and writing theatre that is weird/captivating.I want people to leave one of my shows saying, “What on earth did I just watch?”
In my spare time I listen to new music and collect CDs (yes, they still exist).
My favourite thing about working here is seeing people’s priceless reactions to the illusions.

HOLLY
Hi! My name is Holly and I grew up in York. I am a violinist and music composer. I love performing pop and rock music at weddings and events and composing original fantasy style music.
Some favourite places I have played violin would be Nashville, Santa Monica and Ibiza. My favourite illusion here is the Enigma Chair, the pure laughter I hear from that room is amazing!
